In the Quran, the Al-Mighty took an oath by two aspects of His creation, both being great in their stature, both being symbols of Allah, and both being signs to reflect on:

“By the dawn, and by the ten nights” (Surah al-Fajr, verse 1)

Dhul Hijjah has commenced, alhamdulillaah :)

It has been officially announced by the Saudi Press Agency that the crescent for the new month has been sighted.

Confirmed reports say that UAE also announces the same. So accordingly:

1st of ذو الحجة Dhul Hijjah 1435 will correspond to 25th September 2014. 

The Day of Arafah which falls on 9th ذو الحجة Dhul Hijjah 1435 will correspond to 3rd October 2014. 

Eid al-Adha is on 10th ذو الحجة Dhul Hijjah 1435, and will correspond to 4th October 2014.

The Standing of ‘Arafah for Non-Pilgrims

The root Waw Qaaf and Faa in Arabic, commonly refers to standing as is used in Wuqoof ‘Arafaah i.e. The Standing on Mount ‘Arafah. It also carries the meaning of stopping or pausing.
