Some Facts About Sleep

Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuhu.

Sharing this interesting post as a prelude to my next write-up, inshaaAllah…

Do not forget your share of the world!

This ayah from Surah al Qasas seeks to strike balance between dunya and Aakhirah.

Your involvement in worldly activities should not go to such extent that you tend to forget Aakhirah and the life to come.

Similarly your involvement in religious or spiritual activities should not make you an ascetic in that you tend to ignore the lawful enjoyment that this world has to offer. Continue reading

Yusra Vs ‘Usra

Yusr, Yusra or Yaseer means ease or relief and ‘Usr, ‘Usra or ‘Aseer means hardship or difficulty.

Both are part and parcel of human life.

Everybody wants to make his or her life free of hardship and difficulties.

Islam guides people as to what leads to ease and comfort and what brings misery, distress and difficulties.

Mission Zulfaa

Islam applauds a true believer’s sincere effort. Appreciates hard work. Rewards dedication. And, guarantees reward.

The Almighty Lord is much pleased with a believer if he/she does things approved by Him with purity of motive and sincerity of purpose.

In the glorious Qur’an, Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’aala has used some amazing words like AjRan Kabeera, AjRan Hasana and Maq’ad Sidq to announce glad tidings to those Muslims who not only truly believe in Him but are also righteous in their thoughts and deeds.

Zulfaa is another such amazing word. This word is so pleasing that you feel like saying it again and again. Listening to it again and again.   Continue reading

Matters concerning Rizq and spending in the way of Allah

Alhamdulillah, this is the Eighth post in the series Yaaa Ayyuhal Lazeena Aamanu.

Today’s ayah is Ayah No. 254 which is also from Surah al Baqarah.

In this ayah, Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’aala not only motivates His Believers to “Spend of what We have provided for you” but also warns them of dire consequences if they refuse to act.

Infaaq fee Sabeelillah, that is “spending in the way of Allah” is an important concept in Islam. It is the proof of a Muslim’s goodness.  Continue reading

This ‘Tomorrow’ shall surely come!

The English idiom “Tomorrow never comes” is frequently taught in classrooms throughout the world.  The logic behind this idiom is this:  When the day that you are now calling “tomorrow” arrives, you will call that day “today” and a different day will be called “tomorrow.” Therefore, the students are told not to resolve to do something tomorrow, since that day will never arrive!

But in the inimitable Qur’an, Allah is promising man about the Tomorrow that is sure to come ! Continue reading

Welcome to the Grand Opening

A Muslim logs in to the Qur’an by using the prophetic password Ta’woodh and Tasmiah* and enters the amazing World of Spiritual Bliss through its Grand Opening, Al Fatihah.  He knows very well that he must begin every act of his in the name of Allah and that anything which is begun not in Allah’s name is deprived of all blessings.

Beginning in the name of Allah, a Muslim submits to the fact that all praise can only belong to the Rabb, the Lord whose Mercy engulfs all beings. Such a Lord is the Creator, Nourisher, Cherisher, Protector and Controller of not only this world but a million other worlds.  Continue reading

The virtues of Recitation

To reflect upon the verses of Allaah is a form of worship; it is something that will draw one close to Allaah, Most High. This reflection is not a reckless and wandering one, rather, it includes a study of the classical Tafseer (exegesis) of the verses being pondered over. Allaah, Most High, Says in the Quran (what means): “Then do they not reflect upon the Quran? If it had been from [any] other than Allaah, they would have found within it much contradiction.” [Quran: 4:82]
