Types of Salah and their Validity

بسم الله والصلاة والسلام على رسول الله

Presenting a collection on Different Types of Salah with sound argument and authentic references. Hope this helps all brothers and sisters, InshaaAllah.

Prayers are given as per alphabetical order. 

5 Daily Prayers – Obligatory which MUST be performed by anyone calling himself/herself a Muslim

Al Sunnan Al Rawatib – Sunnah prayers associated with daily five time Salah

Description of the Prophet’s Prayer – To know the right way.

Duha or Ishraaq or Chast are ONE AND THE SAME – Encouraged

Eid Prayers – Encouraged and Recommended

Greeting the Sacred Mosque – Masjid al Haram – Ka’bah

Nafl, Tatawoo, Sunnah, Mustahab, Mandub (Meaning and clarification)

Prayer in times of natural calamities – Recommended

Prayer of the Sick – Islam is Easy!

Prayer on Wedding Night or Before Consummating Marriage – This is NOT from the Sunnah of the Prophet (peace be upon him) rather from the Sahabahs.

Qunoot in Five Daily Prayers – When the Ummah is in distress/calamities

Salah al Awwabeen – 6 Rak’aats between Maghrib & Isha is from a Very Weak report! One can pray without specifying a set no. of rak’aats

Salaat al Raghaa’ib – This is Bi’dah, Must be avoided

Salaat at-Tawbah – Encouraged

Salah Tasbeeh – No Proof of its authenticity, to be avoided

Salatul Haajah – No proof of its authenticity, to be avoided

Salatul Istikhaarah – Most Recommended

Salatul Istisqaa – Recommended    How to Perform?

Salatul Janazah – Of obligatory nature

Salatul Khawf – The Fear Prayer – In times of battles/jihad

Salatul Kusoof – Prayer when there is an Eclipse – Encouraged & Recommended

Salatul Mareedh – Prayer of the Sick Shows Islam’s easiness and graciousness

Salatul Musafir – Traveller’s Prayer – Encouraged & Recommended

Salatul Witr – Most Encouraged and Recommended

Tahajjud and Qiyam al Layl – Motivated to achieve spiritual upliftment

Tahiyyatul Masjid – Encouraged & Recommended

Taraweeh Prayers in Ramadhaan – Recommended

Times when it is Forbidden to offer Voluntary Prayers

Whether or Not to Pray after Fajr and after Asr Prayers?

  1. Salaam
    may allah bless you and the team behind this work ,takaballah …
    I have few question
    1) what are the exception for salah while traveling and those exceptions are compulsory or optional .
    2) can we combine
    a)zohar n asar
    b)magrib n isha
    during traveling or its only holds good during 5 days of hajj and during battle field ….

    • wa alaikumus salam wa rahmatullah.
      Jazakallaahu Khayra.
      1. Exceptions are for the convenience of the Ummah.
      2. Yes, you can either combine Zuhr with Asr at Zuhr time OR combine Zuhr with Asr at Asr time.
      3. Instead of 4 Rak’aats, you can offer 2 Rak’aats.
      4. Fajr must be offered at Fajr time and there is no shortening for Fajr.
      5. It is during Travel, that’s why it is called Salatul Musafir.
