Shariah is for Human Welfare

Today ‘Shariah‘ is projected in the media as if it is something dreadful!

The hate-merchants, with all their propaganda, overt and covert agenda, would like you to ‘believe’ that Shariah is warfare while the fact is that Shariah is for human welfare!

In reality it is a ‘Clear Path’ laid down by the Almighty Himself so that man can legislate his affairs in the light of His guidance.

Linguistically, the word “Shariah” means “the way to a waterhole”. Continue reading

The Timeless Message of Hajj

Hope this article serves as a timely reminder of the timelessness of Hajj, InshaaAllah.

Islamic terms are powerfully loaded with meanings and connotations. Translating them in English is like belittling their importance and import.

Hajj, when translated as ‘pilgrimage’ dilutes the very spirit of this great Islamic practice. Pilgrimage means ‘a journey of devotion’ which Hajj does include but then goes beyond it. Continue reading

Eid-ul-Fitr marks the first day of Shawwal, the tenth month of the Islamic calendar.

Fasting six days of the month of Shawwal is mentioned in authentic ahadeeth.

Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:

“Whosoever fasted in Ramadhaan and then followed up with six fasting days of Shawwal, it is like fasting every day.” (Muslim) Continue reading

“O Allah! Bless Us in What You’ve Given…”

Allahumma Baarik Lana Feema A’tayt is a beautiful du’aa indeed.

It means ‘O Allah! Bless Us in What You’ve Given Us’.

We need to know why we need Allah’s Blessings in what we have with us.

I read this beautiful explanation of the phrase وَبَارِكْ لِي فِيمَا أَعْطَيْتَ – Wa Baarik lee feema A’tayt“Bless me in what You have given…” by Shaykh Ibn Uthaymeen, and shared with my readers last Ramadhaan. Re-posting this insightful content as it is worth sharing again. Continue reading

Limited Days, Unlimited Nonsense, and a Verse of Warning!

أَيَّامًا مَّعْدُودَاتٍ – Ayyaamam Ma’duudaat – is the apt description for the Month of Fasting. Limited Number of Days!

So limited that you don’t know how fast its days pass until you end up saying: Allah! It is as if Ramadhaan started just now…and see these many days flew away!

Yes…1/3rd 1/2 of Ramadhaan 1437 is gone!! Subhanallaah!

It is Jazakallaah Khayra, not just Jazakallaah!

When someone does any favour or says something good, you show your gratitude to him by saying ‘Thank You’. As a Muslim, it is better to prefer saying “Jazakallah Khayra” which means ‘May Allah reward you with goodness’.

Some Muslims do not say this in full. They simply say or text message: ‘Jazakallah’.

Of course, no one intends to mean evil or say bad. But then it is always good to use the full phrase ‘Jazakallah Khayra’.

There are three basic reasons for this: Continue reading

Don’t Miss Ramadhaan’s First Night

🙂 Wishing all my readers RAMADHAAN MUBAARAK:)

With the approach of Ramadan every year, I always recall the following Prophetic hadith:

“My people (Ummah) are granted five gifts that no prophet before me had been given. First, when it is the first night of Ramadan, Allah looks at His servants. He will never punish those at whom He looks. Second, the smell of their mouths when night approaches is more pleasant [to Allah] than the scent of musk. Third, angels seek Allah’s forgiveness for them everyday and night. Fourth, Allah commands Paradise saying, ‘Be prepared and adorned for My servants; they are about to be relieved from the pains of the worldly life and move to My Home and Honor.’ Fifth, when it is the last night (of Ramadan) Allah forgives the sins of all people.” Thereupon, a man asked, “Is it the night of Qadr (Power)?” He (the Prophet) said, “No, don’t you see that once workers finish their tasks, they take their wages?” (Ahmad and Al-Bazzar) Continue reading

A Ramadhaan With Muhammadur Rasoolullah

When you love a person you want be like him. This is especially and spectacularly true when it comes to the love of Muslims towards their beloved Prophet sal-lal-laahu-alaihi-wa-sallam. To quote Ustadh (late) Khurram Murad,

“Indeed, never in history has a man influenced mankind, even beyond his death, so deeply and so pervasively as he has. He brings light and peace to countless hearts and lives. They love him more dearly than their own selves. In him they find their greatest source of inspiration and guidance. He is the ultimate norm and the perfect example for them…….”

The upcoming Ramadhaan will bring in its wake yet another opportunity for the Muslims worldwide to relive and demonstrate, once again, their unflinching love and reverence to the greatest man ever. Continue reading
