Why? The meaning gets richer and more eloquent here!

Everything is bestowed by Allah swt. But when it is mentioned with the Words من لّدن the connotation becomes special and specific.

Reflections on Surah al Ikhlaas

Dear brothers and sisters, Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu.

I am sure you must be aware that the links to the week’s Jumu’ah Khutbah in UAE are given here but I do not post it as a separate post to avoid frequent postings.

Today’s Khutbah was on Surah al Ikhlaas (“Qul Huwal-laahu Ahad”) and I feel every Muslim must go through this as the content is of much benefit for everyday living.

Unlocking the Locked Hearts

In Surah Muhammad there is this thinking ayah:

أَفَلَا يَتَدَبَّرُونَ الْقُرْآنَ أَمْ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبٍ أَقْفَالُهَا

The meaning of this ayah attracts my attention. It is normally translated as follows:

“Then do they not reflect upon the Qur’an, or are there locks upon [their] hearts?” [Surah Muhammad 47: 24

But there is more to the meaning than this translation.

The Heart: Fu’aad, Qalb and Sadr

In the Qur’an, Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’aala uses three words to describe our hearts:

QALB, FU’AAD and SADR. We know that every Arabic word is chosen for a reason, yet all three of these words for the most part are translated as “heart.” As usual, the intricate meanings of these words are not captured in the translation.
