Limited Days, Unlimited Nonsense, and a Verse of Warning!

أَيَّامًا مَّعْدُودَاتٍ – Ayyaamam Ma’duudaat – is the apt description for the Month of Fasting. Limited Number of Days!

So limited that you don’t know how fast its days pass until you end up saying: Allah! It is as if Ramadhaan started just now…and see these many days flew away! Subhanallaah! 

Precious moments must be valued and treasured. Not wasted in unnecessary and vain pursuits! 

A Ramadhaan With Muhammadur Rasoolullah

When you love a person you want be like him. This is especially and spectacularly true when it comes to the love of Muslims towards their beloved Prophet sal-lal-laahu-alaihi-wa-sallam. To quote Ustadh (late) Khurram Murad,

“Indeed, never in history has a man influenced mankind, even beyond his death, so deeply and so pervasively as he has. He brings light and peace to countless hearts and lives. They love him more dearly than their own selves. In him they find their greatest source of inspiration and guidance. He is the ultimate norm and the perfect example for them…….”

The upcoming Ramadhaan will bring in its wake yet another opportunity for the Muslims worldwide to relive and demonstrate, once again, their unflinching love and reverence to the greatest man ever.

Making the Most of Ramadhaan

As Ramadhaan is round the corner, you may come across lots of books/articles on internet about Fasting, Zakah etc.

Of all the books, I would rate this short and sweet write-up by one of the most prolific writers of modern times, late Ustadh Khurram Murad*, as No. 1 – the topmost book ever written on the subject ‘Making the Most of Ramadhaan’. 

I request all my readers to please take time to read this 34-page book well before the coming of the blessed month, Inshaa’Allah. Even if you have read this book before, no problem read it again as Reminder Benefits Muslims.

Things become easy for a person if he/she is in a habit of doing something regularly, and in advance.

The one who practices charity on a regular basis finds it very easy to give out Zakah once in a year. 

The student who studies and prepares himself in a systematic way, finds it easy while sitting for the exams. 

Establishing Salah is not hard on those who are in the habit of offering nafl, that is extra/supererogatory prayers, regularly.

Islam appreciates this approach in order to make things easy FOR THE MAIN EVENT.

Surah al Kahf is an Action-packed Surah!

Dear brothers and sisters, Assalamu Alaikum.wa.Rahmatullah.

Whenever I Enter this Cave, I Come Out with Treasure. Subhanallah.

Surah al Kahf consists of many Verbs of Movement, Striving and Endeavor – أفعال الحركة والسعى

This Surah for sure calls for harakah on the part of Muslims.

Life must be dynamic, not static.

Active, not passive. Energetic, not lethargic.

This Surah starts by giving glad tidings to the Believers Who Do Righteous Deeds that they will have a good reward وَيُبَشِّرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ الَّذِينَ يَعْمَلُونَ الصَّالِحَاتِ and ends with the Command: Do Righteous deeds فَلْيَعْمَلْ عَمَلًا صَالِحًا 

Aspects of Dawah in Surah al Kahf

Surah al Kahf is an encyclopedia in itself! Subhanallaah!

As we read and understand the Surah, we come across four different aspects of Dawah.

Dawah is to call people to Islam, to advise people about what is Right and what is wrong, to remind those who have forgotten their duties and to stand up against injustice and oppression. 

The miracle in Tawaf, the purpose of human existence!

Ka’bah plays a pivotal role in the life of a Muslim. It is an indispensable part of a Muslim’s life.

It is a Muslim’s anchor and nucleus. It is the centre of our life and existence. It is our Qiblah.

Ka’bah is the symbol of monotheism. The flag of Islam.

Yet Ka’bah itself is an empty building with nothing inside. 

“That is the inheritance of Muhammad صلّى الله عليه وسلم”

During Ramadhaan we witness that all mosques are crowded, Masha’Allah.

This quote from our dear Abu Hurayrah (radhiyallaahu anhu) is relevant and makes a good reading.

May Allah give us the Tawfeeq, Hidayah, the Zouq and the Shouq to go to the masjid even after Ramadhaan.

The weak combo!

To be weak is to do nothing. It is an expression of one’s helplessness.

When judges are not presented with credible evidence, they call the case weak and dismiss it! When a person is not able to sit, the doctors say that the patient is weak.

The Qur’an gives vivid descriptions of some terribly weak cases. 

Haza Min Fadhli Rabbee

هذا من فضل ربّي is a very popular statement. Some of you must have seen this Qur’anic phrase beautifully printed as  wall hangers, photo frames, stickers etc. and sold in many Islamic bookshops. You may have seen it aesthetically fixed in some prominent place at a Muslim home. Or you have it hung at your home too!

Today let us try to understand what exactly this so popular Qur’anic phrase mean, Inshaa’Allah.
