Ramadhaan fasts + 6 Shawwal fasts make fasting every day!

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

Eid-ul-Fitr marks the first day of Shawwal, the tenth month of the Islamic calendar.

Fasting six days of the month of Shawwal is mentioned in authentic ahadeeth.

Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: 

“Whosoever fasted in Ramadhaan and then followed up with six fasting days of Shawwal, it is like fasting every day.” (Muslim)

Limited Days, Unlimited Nonsense, and a Verse of Warning!

أَيَّامًا مَّعْدُودَاتٍ – Ayyaamam Ma’duudaat – is the apt description for the Month of Fasting. Limited Number of Days!

So limited that you don’t know how fast its days pass until you end up saying: Allah! It is as if Ramadhaan started just now…and see these many days flew away! Subhanallaah! 

Precious moments must be valued and treasured. Not wasted in unnecessary and vain pursuits!

Maximize the Last 10 Days of Ramadhaan

As Ramadhaan is round the corner, I am changing the home page accordingly.

The purpose is to highlight the importance of the month even as I intend and pray to Allah that the message reaches far and wide across all continents wherever internet’s reach is there, Inshaa’Allah and bi-ithnillaah.

Surah al Kahf is an Action-packed Surah!

Dear brothers and sisters, Assalamu Alaikum.wa.Rahmatullah.

Whenever I Enter this Cave, I Come Out with Treasure. Subhanallah.

Surah al Kahf consists of many Verbs of Movement, Striving and Endeavor – أفعال الحركة والسعى

This Surah for sure calls for harakah on the part of Muslims.

Life must be dynamic, not static.

Active, not passive. Energetic, not lethargic.

This Surah starts by giving glad tidings to the Believers Who Do Righteous Deeds that they will have a good reward وَيُبَشِّرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ الَّذِينَ يَعْمَلُونَ الصَّالِحَاتِ and ends with the Command: Do Righteous deeds فَلْيَعْمَلْ عَمَلًا صَالِحًا 

Islamic Perspective on Eclipse

Dear brothers and sisters, as Muslims we are obligated to know the Islamic perspective on this natural phenomenon even as we are encouraged to perform Salatul Kusoof, Prayer of the Eclipse.

“That is the inheritance of Muhammad صلّى الله عليه وسلم”

During Ramadhaan we witness that all mosques are crowded, Masha’Allah.

This quote from our dear Abu Hurayrah (radhiyallaahu anhu) is relevant and makes a good reading.

May Allah give us the Tawfeeq, Hidayah, the Zouq and the Shouq to go to the masjid even after Ramadhaan.

Being h e a r t l i n e with Allah!

The interest and involvement one finds in staying and working online cannot be found when you work offline. For when you are online, you are connected to, served by or available through a system.

Connecting with one’s heart is to be online with Allah.

Even though the terms online and hotline were not specifically used in 7th century as they are used and understood now in the computer-savvy 21st century but the fact remains that the Qur’an recognized its importance 14 centuries ago! 

Ramadhaan is Seeker’s Paradise!

Have you ever noticed this ayah that is sandwiched between the verses concerning fasting and Ramadhaan?

The hikmah why Allah chose to include this ayah in the midst of verses enjoining fasting in Ramadhaan is best known to Him alone. We can, however, infer that Allah wants us to supplicate more and more in this blessed month as He is ever ready to give more and more.

هذا من فضل ربّي is a very popular statement. Some of you must have seen this Qur’anic phrase beautifully printed as  wall hangers, photo frames, stickers etc. and sold in many Islamic bookshops. This life and this world are God’s creation, and are, therefore, good. He established them as people’s destiny enjoined upon him to seek and promote them. His Prophet, Muhammad, defined, the good, the noble, the felicitous person as one whose career adds a real plus to the total value of the universe, who leaves the world a better place than that in which he was born. But, sawm is definitely an abstinence from food, drink and physical intimacy. What then is its meaning?
