To Those Brothers and Sisters following this Blog: I am writing a post on Al Hudaa/Al Hidayah entitled ‘Guidance of Allah is the only true Guidance’. As a prelude to that, I would request you to go through this introductory part and also recall this parable posted long back in this blog. 

No Time Like Ramadan Time :)

Soon, once again, the blessed month of Ramadan will be with us; once again, like “golden hours on angel wings”, will descend upon us its blessed moments.

Like every other year since Hijrah, it will summon Muslims, as individuals and as a corporate body, to an intense and sustained life of Fasting and Prayer, of worship and obedience, of devotion and discipline — all centered on the Qur’an which, too, was sent down in these very moments in the custody of “noble and trustworthy” angels.

Call will go forth to every believer to take to prolonged companionship with the Book of God. To a life of redoubled endeavor to become what God desires Muslims to be. Ramadan bids our hearts and minds, our society and polity, to come to. Joyfully and dutifully the Muslims will respond.

Taaghuut. What is Taaghuut?

Qur’anic words are more complex, richer and eloquent. They convey myriad of meanings.

Translators find it difficult to convey their precise interpretation. Taaghuut is one such word.

The best approach would be to retain such a word without translating it, and let the Qur’anic Arabic speak for itself.

“We Wanna Crush Them Under Our Feet!”

Today, you look at them in high esteem. Tomorrow you will love to see them become the lowest of the low!

You take pride in following them. Later you will regret.

Today, they are your inspiration. Soon they’ll become the cause of your perspiration!

It will not take much time for today’s honour to become tomorrow’s disgrace!

So beware and take heed. 

Dhikr, Dhikra, Tadhkira.

Qur’an is ذكر Dhikr. Qur’an is الذِّكْرَىٰ Dhikra. Qur’an is تذكرة Tadhkira as well.

Prophet Muhammad sal-lal-laahu-alaihi-wa-sallam, the one who presented the Qur’an to the world, is مذكّر Mudhakkir. One of the purposes of the Qur’an is to make people يتذكرون ‘Yatadhak’karoon’.

So, at the outset, what is the meaning of Dhikr, Dhikra and Tadhkira?

Man loves to see, feel and enjoy things that are pleasant. He, by nature, hates things that are unpleasant, scary or gloomy.

You feel delighted when pleasant wind touches you. When you are at a lush green area, surrounded by exquisite fountains and beautiful flowers, you have a different feeling altogether.

As the weather changes, replacing pleasant wind with fiery, strong or stormy wind, your face also changes. Your feelings go topsy-turvy. You become sad.

Qur’an presents both the scenarios and highlights an important nature of man.

3 years, and miles to go before I die!

Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullah wa Barakaatuh.

Alhamdulillah, this blog has completed three years since its launch and establishment.

When I initiated this blog, I was not sure how it will go but This is Only from the Grace and Mercy of My Lord that I am able to manage and keep the pot boiling.

I am extremely grateful to Almighty Allah for having blessed me with this expressive medium to write something out of the knowledge that He has provided me with.

Please Note:  The next ayah in the series Yaaa Ayyuhal Lazeena Aamanu is about the forbiddance of Ribaa, that is, Interest or Usury. Since the topic needs elaborate study/discussion, and given the professional workload, I am unable to post about it now. Sorry for delaying. Actually when you want the post to be short, you need a lot of time to prepare and present in a concise way.

Inshaa’Allah I will post on ayah no. 278 in a day or two.

As the next ayah addressing the Believers has already been posted here 🙂 I am re-posting it so that at least those of you who didn’t read that before can read it now, and also my dear subscribers/regular readers can re-read it and refresh your Eemaan, Inshaa’Allah.

The Holy Qur’an is a Book of Guidance and Mercy for all mankind. Its verses are a balm for the diseases of the heart, a clear evidence and enlightenment. Allah the most Exalted says, “And We send down of the Qur’an that which is healing and mercy for the believers, but it does not increase the wrongdoers except in loss.” (Surah al Israa: 82). 

The more you reflect, the closer you get!

There are many “religious” books available in the spiritual supermarkets of the world. How many of them tell their readers or followers to ponder and reflect over their teachings?

Do you know that there are some wonderful religious books – so “wonderful” that you don’t need a brain to understand!

The Qur’an never makes its readers mentally-challenged! Alhamdulillaah.

The Qur’an is unique. It tells you to think. It makes you to think.  

The world must follow Prophet Muhammad to achieve success and salvation!

Ever since the release of the latest dirty video on our Prophet (peace be upon him), I was thinking to write on the historical reason behind mockery and the hate campaign. The question why Islam and its Prophet is always under attack by some groups of people has just one word answer: Jealousy! Read on…..

The Jews and Christians were already informed by their respective Prophets – Prophet Moosa and Prophet Eesa (Moses and Jesus, Peace be upon them) – about the coming of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and the need to obey and follow him.

The Old Testament is old and outdated and the New Testament is no more new. Now, the world has to follow the Last and Final Testament, that is the Qur’an. This is the only way and there can’t be any other alternative to success. Arrogance and prejudice have be to shed and things must be seen clearly.

The miracle in the ‘year’!

In Surah al-‘Ankabut, Allah `azza wa jall describes the length of time that Prophet Nuh (`alayhisalam) spent with his people. But what do you notice about the verse?

“I Love Not Things That Set”!

Dear sisters and brothers, Assalamu Alaikum.

In the life of Prophet Ibraheem (peace be upon him) we have an Excellent Model to emulate.

I love what Ibraheem (Alaihis salam) said, ‘I love not things that set’!

This statement, uttered by the great Prophet in the beginning of his career, is of iconic nature. 

Al Hudaa and the Parable of the Train

Al Qur’an, full of wisdom, is the Divine Guidance for all mankind.

Man must know, realise and understand that the Qur’an is for human welfare.

Let us elucidate this with the help of a parable *. 

Man’s relationship with his Lord

Who is our Creator, the Almighty Lord, and what is our relationship with Him?

Many a philosopher, since time immemorial, tried to find an answer to this question. They have written tones of volumes only to come out with crippled theories and cranky theologies!   In today’s world of spiritual supermarket, the leaders of man-made religions, themselves spiritually-bankrupt, successfully groom their followers into a more spiritually-challenged lot!

This is the Book – in it is Guidance

The first five verses of the second chapter (Sura al Baqarah) in the Qur’an read as follows:

“In the name of Allah, the most Compassionate, the most Merciful

1. Alif. Lam. Mim.

2. This is the Book; in it is guidance sure, without doubt, to those who fear Allah;

3. Who believe in the Unseen, are steadfast in prayer, and spend out of what We have provided for them;

4. And who believe in the Revelation sent to thee, and sent before thy time, and (in their hearts) have the assurance of the Hereafter.

5. They are on (true) guidance, from their Lord, and it is these who will prosper.”

The Names and Characteristics of the Qur’aan

To assist you in knowing the true worth of the Qur’an, you should know that Allah has named the Qur’an with many names and amongst them are:

• Al-Qur’an (the Recital),

• Al-Furqaan (the Criterion between Truth and falsehood),

• at-Tanzeel (the Revelation),

• Al-Kitaab (the Book).
