Of Sleep and Death!

Do you know that Allah takes our souls in our sleep?

And it is His mercy and decree that He returns our souls to our bodies after having taken it during our sleep!

He tells us this spiritual-cum-scientific fact in Surah Az-Zumar of the glorious Qur’an: Continue reading

Do not forget your share of the world!

This ayah from Surah al Qasas seeks to strike balance between dunya and Aakhirah.

Your involvement in worldly activities should not go to such extent that you tend to forget Aakhirah and the life to come.

Similarly your involvement in religious or spiritual activities should not make you an ascetic in that you tend to ignore the lawful enjoyment that this world has to offer. Continue reading

Surah al Kahf: A Weekly Reminder to Hang On with the Community

While reading Surah al Kahf – ‘Cave’ for ‘Kahf’ – last Friday I experienced a flashback.

One of the greatest statements of Umar ibn al Khattab struck my mind:

لَا إِسْلَامَ إِلَّا بِجَمَاعَةٍ ، وَلَا جَمَاعَةَ إِلَّا بِإِمَارَةٍ ، وَلَا إِمَارَةَ إِلَّا بِطَاعَةٍ

“No Islam without Community, No Community without Leadership, No leadership without Obedience.”

Those who consciously stay in this Cave do not stray. Alhamdulillaah. Yes! Our temporary visit to this Cave every Friday equips us with the staying power for the rest of our life! Continue reading

The correlation between Ihram and Kafan

The happiness of celebrating Eid al Adhaa on Thursday took a 180 degree turn.

The heart breaking news of the stampede at Mina resulting in the death of 717 Hajj pilgrims and injuring 800+ changed the entire scenario.

Sorrow and sadness is prevailing among Muslims around the globe. Some are in shock, unable to hear the distressing news coming from Makkah. Continue reading

That which Endures, ensures.

At times certain things happen so quickly and in succession in our personal life, and we simply call it as co-incidence. Just an hour before I was reading something about Deception in the world wide web, and when I logged into my mail id, I found this piece of reminder. The one about which I was reading minutes before. Subhanallaah.

I thought to share this with you all. It could be an inspiration for all of us especially when we are entering the New Hijri Year, 1436. It will not take more than 2 minutes. Read On…Inshaa’Allah.

Summer, Sun, Shadow and……Submission!

As summer is scorching, this is a reminder of the fire of Jahannum.

Allaahumma ajirnaa min-nan-naar. O Allah! Save us from the Hell-fire. Aameen.

YasSarNalQuR'aN

Living in UAE in hot summer is extremely uncomfortable. It is only a blessing of Allah that people are able to withstand and are happily continuing with their fasts despite heatwaves, alhamdulillah.

Well, I would like to share with you a lesson-rich experience which I encountered today.

While walking to the masjid for Zuhr prayer, I was looking for shadows of the buildings around to walk under the shade to protect myself from the scorching sun. After offering sunnah prayers, I started continuing with my Tilawah. After reciting only a few verses I came across this ayah which spoke about the same very thing I was doing just before coming to the masjid: find shadows to protect you! Subhanallaah!

What is your Sa’aa?

Your Sa’aa will make you or mar you.

Either Allah will appreciate your Sa’aa and reward you accordingly or that your Sa’aa may bring you untold miseries.

Mission Zulfaa

Islam applauds a true believer’s sincere effort. Appreciates hard work. Rewards dedication. And, guarantees reward.

The Almighty Lord is much pleased with a believer if he/she does things approved by Him with purity of motive and sincerity of purpose.

In the glorious Qur’an, Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’aala has used some amazing words like AjRan Kabeera, AjRan Hasana and Maq’ad Sidq to announce glad tidings to those Muslims who not only truly believe in Him but are also righteous in their thoughts and deeds.

Zulfaa is another such amazing word. This word is so pleasing that you feel like saying it again and again. Listening to it again and again.   Continue reading

Matters concerning Rizq and spending in the way of Allah

Alhamdulillah, this is the Eighth post in the series Yaaa Ayyuhal Lazeena Aamanu.

Today’s ayah is Ayah No. 254 which is also from Surah al Baqarah.

In this ayah, Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’aala not only motivates His Believers to “Spend of what We have provided for you” but also warns them of dire consequences if they refuse to act.

Infaaq fee Sabeelillah, that is “spending in the way of Allah” is an important concept in Islam. It is the proof of a Muslim’s goodness.  Continue reading

This ‘Tomorrow’ shall surely come!

The English idiom “Tomorrow never comes” is frequently taught in classrooms throughout the world.  The logic behind this idiom is this:  When the day that you are now calling “tomorrow” arrives, you will call that day “today” and a different day will be called “tomorrow.” Therefore, the students are told not to resolve to do something tomorrow, since that day will never arrive!

But in the inimitable Qur’an, Allah is promising man about the Tomorrow that is sure to come ! Continue reading

We were anxiously waiting for Ramadhaan, right?

Welcome to the Grand Opening

A Muslim logs in to the Qur’an by using the prophetic password Ta’woodh and Tasmiah* and enters the amazing World of Spiritual Bliss through its Grand Opening, Al Fatihah.  He knows very well that he must begin every act of his in the name of Allah and that anything which is begun not in Allah’s name is deprived of all blessings.

Beginning in the name of Allah, a Muslim submits to the fact that all praise can only belong to the Rabb, the Lord whose Mercy engulfs all beings. Such a Lord is the Creator, Nourisher, Cherisher, Protector and Controller of not only this world but a million other worlds.  Continue reading
