Dhul Hijjah has commenced, alhamdulillaah :)

It has been officially announced by the Saudi Press Agency that the crescent for the new month has been sighted.

Confirmed reports say that UAE also announces the same. So accordingly:

1st of ذو الحجة Dhul Hijjah 1435 will correspond to 25th September 2014. 

The Day of Arafah which falls on 9th ذو الحجة Dhul Hijjah 1435 will correspond to 3rd October 2014. 

Eid al-Adha is on 10th ذو الحجة Dhul Hijjah 1435, and will correspond to 4th October 2014.

  1. According to fiqh the crescent should be sighted and not the new moon for declaring the beginning of lunar month. Your comments please

    • The talk about the announcement is related to the crescent.
      If people use the phrase ‘new moon’ they mean crescent only.
