Take Time to Appreciate Islam!

While teaching a lesson on ‘Appreciating the Gifts of Allah’ to Grade 5 students, I asked them:

Tell me some gifts that Allah has given you in your life.

Many students said: Parents, water, money, friends, family, knowledge, eyes, brain etc. etc.

One boy simply said, ‘ISLAM, Sir! Islam is a Gift from Allah’. 

Alternatives to Memorizing the Qur’an

Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuhu.

As some may find it difficult to memorize the selected portion given in the previous post or some may not like the unconventional style of doing Hifdh of the verses selected on thematic basis, I am presenting the memorization schedule in a different way.

The Hifdh Plan which I am presenting here is thematic. In most cases, one ayah per day is selected for memorization. However, depending on the context and the continuation of the meaning, it runs into the next ayah.

A few points to consider if you are willing to memorize from the glorious Qur’an, InshaaAllah. 

Of Sleep and Death!

I was curious, so I did a google search, to find if this is listed.

To my sadness, I found lots of links that present Islam in an abusive language. Allah Kareem!

Today, amid a growingly aggressive and Islamophobic media, there is need to present Islam as it is. 

Thought of re-posting this with some modifications for the benefit of my readers.  

Istiqaamah is the key!

Giving brief answers to difficult questions is the hallmark of wisdom.

You might have heard people narrating their bitter experiences of they seeking some naseeha (advice) from such and such Imaam or an ‘Aalim, and having regretted later for seeking advice from such a boring person!

Some of us even stop going to the masjid should we encounter some lecturing ‘naseeha’ from an uninspiring Muslim.

The glorious Prophet Muhammad, sal-lal-laahu-alaihi-wa-sallam, is ‘uswatun hasana’, ‘the best role model’ for all Muslims. 

The du’aa of Umar ibn al Khattab رضي الله عنه

The du’aa of Umar ibn al Khattaab رضي الله عنه after reciting the Qur’an is one of its kind and the most comprehensive du’aa ever. And a very beautiful du’aa, Mashaa’Allah!

As we are entering the most blessed days/nights, the last 10 days and nights of this blessed month, I felt this might be of some use at least to those of you who are unaware of this highly meaningful du’aa.

One can make this du’aa after reading/reciting even a small portion of the Qur’an, not necessarily only at the end of one full recitation of the Qur’an. 

To Maq’ad Sidq Through Qadama Sidq!

While discussing on AjRan Kabeera and AjRan Hasana, we learnt that the glorious Qur’an gives good news/glad tidings that a great and an excellent reward awaits those Muslims who do righteous deeds in the light of Qur’an’s guidance.

Today I would like to discuss on these two amazing phrases that are used to describe the nature of reward that awaits those who do good deeds in this world: Qadama Sidq قدم صدق  and Maq’ad Sidq مقعد صدق 

Laylatul Qadr: Living the Golden Moments!

Finally the Laylatul Qadr nights have come to embrace us and shower immense blessings upon us, Inshaa’Allah.

Let us do our best to live the nights, Inshaa’Allah.

Our Salah is Full and Full Meaningful!

Islam is so natural and meaningful that sparkling gems keep coming all along our path. We get enlightened and feel proud to be a Muslim. Today I read an amazingly sparkling piece and could not resist the urge to share with you all. Br. Nouman Ali Khan has enlightened us with some gems found hidden in the acts of our Salah. After reading this, I am sure the focus and concentration in our Salah would increase, Inshaa’Allah. 

This rejoicing, this competition has no parallel!

Dunya ke liye Tohfah-e-Rahmaan hai Qur’aan

Tibyaan hai, Furqaan hai, Burhaan hai Qur’aan

About Qur’an and Sunnah

The Noble Qur’an is Allah’s Word through which He expressed His commands and teachings. It is raised above any possible description. The Noble Qur’an was revealed to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) and was accepted by the believers as being the essence of truth. Moreover, the believers maintain that it is the Word of Allah and not the words of any of His creatures. Thus, whosoever claims that it is the words of a human being becomes a disbeliever.

Keeping Ramadhaan Alive for the Rest of the Year

Almost invariably it happens a few days after the end of Ramadan; the letdown.

Fasting is finished; the nightly prayers are over; the group gatherings to break the fast have vanished. We can eat, drink, and be merry again when the sun is shining. And that special feeling you have in your heart–the one that keeps you going despite your hunger and thirst–gradually fades away.
