Of Sleep and Death!

Do you know that Allah takes our souls in our sleep?

And it is His mercy and decree that He returns our souls to our bodies after having taken it during our sleep!

He tells us this spiritual-cum-scientific fact in Surah Az-Zumar of the glorious Qur’an:

The miracle in ‘Aayah’

This aayah enchants me a lot: سَنُرِيهِمْ آيَاتِنَا فِي الْآفَاقِ وَفِي أَنفُسِهِمْ حَتَّىٰ يَتَبَيَّنَ لَهُمْ أَنَّهُ الْحَقُّ

“We will show them Our signs in the horizons and within themselves until it becomes clear to them that it is the truth.” (Surah Fussilat 41: 53)

And this aayah:

هُوَ الَّذِي بَعَثَ فِي الْأُمِّيِّينَ رَسُولًا مِّنْهُمْ يَتْلُو عَلَيْهِمْ آيَاتِهِ وَيُزَكِّيهِمْ وَيُعَلِّمُهُمُ الْكِتَابَ وَالْحِكْمَةَ وَإِن كَانُوا مِن قَبْلُ لَفِي ضَلَالٍ مُّبِينٍ

“It is He who has sent among the unlettered a Messenger from themselves reciting to them His verses and purifying them and teaching them the Book and wisdom – although they were before in clear error”. (Surah al Jumu’ah 62: 2)

The myriad of meanings that the word ‘aayah’ connotes is miraculous indeed.

The verses of the Qur’an are in fact the signs of understanding for men of understanding!

The MOST Read Book, the LEAST understood Book!

YasSarNal QuR’aN: We have made the Qur’an easy!

Allah Tabaaraka Wa Ta’aala repeats this ayah وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا الْقُرْآنَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍ four times in Surah al Qamar.

In the Qur’an, where there is repetition of an ayah, there is emphasis. There is meaning. There is a loud and clear message.

This ayah, which is profound in its message, is a crystal clear proclamation from Allah subhanahu wa Ta’aala that He has “indeed made the Qur’an easy“. Let us understand this ayah by splitting into three parts:

Prophet Muhammad sal-lal-laahu-alaihi-wa-sallam said, “خيركم من تعلم القرآن وعلمه” ‘The Best Among You IS The One Who Learns The Qur’an and Teaches It”. Certainly the best among us is Dr. Abdul Azeez Abdul Raheem, the founder of this amazing website. 

This privilege is only for Qur’an reading in Masjids!

This hadeeth is an inspiration for all Muslims, and on the other hand an eye-opener to the brothers of Tableegh Jamaat.

The relationship between the Book and its Reading!

Dear brothers/sisters, Assalamu Alaikum.

This is not a new post. As this is taken from a long article I wrote some years ago, alhamdulillah. The purpose of this post is to request all my dear readers to go through the points mentioned below, and share your thoughts about it or supplement it with other related points. 

Your participation, Inshaa’Allah, will help in the process of understanding and presenting things in a better way. I want to write more on this topic. Thought of doing it differently, and so I expect new ideas from YOU. Jazakallahu Khayra. Vassalam. 

The Easy Qur’an: Interpretation in Simple English :)

Alhamdulillah, a new translation of the Qur’an in English language! Interpreted in Easy English by our respected brother Imtiaz Ahmad, the Easy Qur’an is an excellent resource for the learners of the Glorious Qur’an.

The scholarly brother, who is based at Madinah al Munawwarah,  has come a long way in the field of research, dawah and islaah. His past experience as the author of the undermentioned books has definitely motivated him to present an interpretation in a simple and lucid way.  

Why don’t you learn Arabic?

This question about learning Arabic is pertinent to me and you. Learning Arabic language is a simple way to learn the Qur’an. Some of you may say we know Arabic already. But then I hope you will agree that learning Qur’anic Arabic is a life-long process. Nevertheless, the importance of learning Arabic language cannot be brushed aside. What follows is a compilation to highlight the need to learn Arabic.

The Heart and the Qur’an

Bismillaahir Rahmaanir Raheem

The more important part of your ‘person’ is your inner self. This inner self the Quran calls the qalb or the ‘heart’. The heart of the Prophet  was the first recipient of the Quranic message:

Truly it has been sent down by the Lord of all the worlds, the Trustworthy Spirit has alighted with it upon your heart [O Prophet], that you may be one of the Warner … (Quran 26:192-194)

You will therefore reap the full joys and blessings of reading the Qur’an when you are able to involve your heart fully in your task.
