Rain, Rain, Come Again!

For people who live in a desert, Rain is something which is unusual. And this once-in-a-blue-moon thing is happening in the United Arab Emirates!

Man, however, is an extremist by nature. When there is no rain, he yearns for it. And when it rains, he becomes restless and shows signs of ingratitude.

As a Muslim we need to know that our Prophet sal-lal-laahu-alaihi-wa-sallam not only sought rain but when it rained, he also enjoyed it as much as he could. 

Al-Kawthar: A River of Goodness Through This Life and the Next

Anas (radiyallahu ‘anhu) said, The Holy Prophet was among us. In the meantime he dozed; then he raised his head, smiling, and said, “A chapter was revealed to me earlier.” Then he read, “Indeed, We have granted you al-Kawthar. So, pray to your Lord and sacrifice. Indeed, the one who insults you, he is cut off… [Saheeh Muslim]

Surah al-Kawthar is the shortest surah of the Quran and many of us have memorized it, but do we truly feel it when we recite it? What does this surah have to do with us? It was the powerful emaan booster given by Allah (‘azza wajal) to His Prophet and the community in a very difficult time, so let’s find out how we can use it to boost our faith and make us more productive! 

What Islam is Not!

This is one of my very old write-ups.

I was curious, so I did a google search, to find if this is listed.

To my sadness, I found lots of links that present Islam in an abusive language. Allah Kareem!

Today, amid a growingly aggressive and Islamophobic media, there is need to present Islam as it is.

An extremely popular and useful compilation of authentic ahadeeth, covering every aspect of Islamic belief and moral conduct, it selects 1896 ahadeeth from the six major collections: Bukhari, Muslim, Abu Dawuud, At-Tirmidhi, An-Nisai and Ibn Majah. It serves as an excellent hadeeth primer and daily reader. This Hadeeth Collection has wide range of topics, Subhanallaah! 

Maryam is Maryam! Peace Be Upon Her.

Whenever I read Surah Mar’yam, I feel so inspired and happen to end by saying I love Mar’yam عليها السلام

Indeed her contribution, status, role and honour are far greater than what one can could think, say or write about.

We as Muslims have real claim, and greater right for being attached with this immaculate Muslim lady than any Christian would have. For we look at her with much reverence and respect, and draw inspiration from her. By the virtue of being the mother of one of the greatest of Prophets of Allah – Eesa alaihis salam – Maryam عليها السلام is our mother as well, and an exemplary role model.

The world must follow Prophet Muhammad to achieve success and salvation!

Ever since the release of the latest dirty video on our Prophet (peace be upon him), I was thinking to write on the historical reason behind mockery and the hate campaign. The question why Islam and its Prophet is always under attack by some groups of people has just one word answer: Jealousy! Read on…..

The Jews and Christians were already informed by their respective Prophets – Prophet Moosa and Prophet Eesa (Moses and Jesus, Peace be upon them) – about the coming of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and the need to obey and follow him.

The Old Testament is old and outdated and the New Testament is no more new. Now, the world has to follow the Last and Final Testament, that is the Qur’an. This is the only way and there can’t be any other alternative to success. Arrogance and prejudice have be to shed and things must be seen clearly.

Embassies are razed, diplomats are lynched, protesters have marched with unbridled aggression from east to west.  The Islamic world and the West once again finds itself at loggerheads arising from two conflicting principles, the right of ‘freedom of speech’ against the right to ‘defend one’s honour’.  What ensues is a repetitive discourse occurs between the two.

Eid-ul-Fitr marks the first day of Shawwal, the tenth month of the Islamic calendar.

Fasting six days of the month of Shawwal is mentioned in an authentic hadeeth.

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 

Laylatul Qadr: Living the Golden Moments!

Finally the Laylatul Qadr nights have come to embrace us and shower immense blessings upon us, Inshaa’Allah.

Let us do our best to live the nights, Inshaa’Allah.

Dates in the Qur’an and the Sunnah

Those living in the Gulf states are indeed fortunate to have plenty of dates available throughout the year. As Ramadhaan and dates are seen as synonymous in many parts of the world,  I thought of re-posting this, by way of reminder, from my Seerah blog

The date fruit and tree were dear to Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and the word “date” (and date-palm) is mentioned in the Holy Qur’an more than 20 times.

About Qur’an and Sunnah

The Noble Qur’an is Allah’s Word through which He expressed His commands and teachings. It is raised above any possible description. The Noble Qur’an was revealed to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) and was accepted by the believers as being the essence of truth. Moreover, the believers maintain that it is the Word of Allah and not the words of any of His creatures. Thus, whosoever claims that it is the words of a human being becomes a disbeliever.

The Book that Shaped the World

“This is the Book; in it is guidance sure, without doubt, to those who fear Allah” (Al-Baqarah, 2:2)

Has anybody ever come across a book that contains a preface where its author mentions its infallibility from any single error? Has anyone ever heard of any author who talks with such confidence and authority? This is the Qur’an; it was revealed to one human being named Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) and its Author is Allah, the Lord and Sustainer of the Universe.

This is the Book – in it is Guidance

The first five verses of the second chapter (Sura al Baqarah) in the Qur’an read as follows:

“In the name of Allah, the most Compassionate, the most Merciful

1. Alif. Lam. Mim.

2. This is the Book; in it is guidance sure, without doubt, to those who fear Allah;

3. Who believe in the Unseen, are steadfast in prayer, and spend out of what We have provided for them;

4. And who believe in the Revelation sent to thee, and sent before thy time, and (in their hearts) have the assurance of the Hereafter.

5. They are on (true) guidance, from their Lord, and it is these who will prosper.”
