No Time Like Ramadan Time :)

Soon, once again, the blessed month of Ramadan will be with us; once again, like “golden hours on angel wings”, will descend upon us its blessed moments.

Like every other year since Hijrah, it will summon Muslims, as individuals and as a corporate body, to an intense and sustained life of Fasting and Prayer, of worship and obedience, of devotion and discipline — all centered on the Qur’an which, too, was sent down in these very moments in the custody of “noble and trustworthy” angels.

Call will go forth to every believer to take to prolonged companionship with the Book of God. To a life of redoubled endeavor to become what God desires Muslims to be. Ramadan bids our hearts and minds, our society and polity, to come to. Joyfully and dutifully the Muslims will respond.

Taaghuut. What is Taaghuut?

Qur’anic words are more complex, richer and eloquent. They convey myriad of meanings.

Translators find it difficult to convey their precise interpretation. Taaghuut is one such word.

The best approach would be to retain such a word without translating it, and let the Qur’anic Arabic speak for itself.

When the mega month of Ramadhaan rises in a Muslim’s life, he compliments himself on this singular good fortune and becomes agog with excitement. He has been given a golden opportunity to refine himself through fasting and through the spiritual nourishment of the glorious Qur’an. The whole community rises to the occasion and greets the month which brings in its wake innumerable possibilities and privileges. 

In this splendid scenario, this Post is dedicated to all brothers & sisters in Islam, alhamdulillah.

While I wish you a Happy Ramadhaan, I pray to Allah to shower His choicest Blessings upon you and your family in this blessed month, and all throughout the year. May Allah give us the Tawfeeq to put things into practice and may He accept all our sincere efforts and worship. Aameen.

Dhikr, Dhikra, Tadhkira.

Qur’an is ذكر Dhikr. Qur’an is الذِّكْرَىٰ Dhikra. Qur’an is تذكرة Tadhkira as well.

Prophet Muhammad sal-lal-laahu-alaihi-wa-sallam, the one who presented the Qur’an to the world, is مذكّر Mudhakkir. One of the purposes of the Qur’an is to make people يتذكرون ‘Yatadhak’karoon’.

So, at the outset, what is the meaning of Dhikr, Dhikra and Tadhkira?

Most Suitable, Most Precise, Most Upright….Subhanallaah!

Qur’an uses rich words that are mind-boggling and overwhelming. Those that create a strong and vivid impression in the minds of the readers. Qur’anic vocabulary is expressively impressive and impressively expressive.

However, the purpose of the Qur’an is not to weave rich tapestry leading to intellectual exercises and literary debates on the part of the readers but the purpose is to convey the truth in the most miraculous a manner. So the Qur’an, which is a miracle in human language, serves to guide mankind in all spheres of life.

With clinical precision, Allah says about His inimitable Book in the following words:

3 years, and miles to go before I die!

Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullah wa Barakaatuh.

Alhamdulillah, this blog has completed three years since its launch and establishment.

When I initiated this blog, I was not sure how it will go but This is Only from the Grace and Mercy of My Lord that I am able to manage and keep the pot boiling.

I am extremely grateful to Almighty Allah for having blessed me with this expressive medium to write something out of the knowledge that He has provided me with. 

Al Hudaa and the Parable of the Train

Bismillahir Rahmaanir Raheem

Al Qur’an, full of wisdom, is the Divine Guidance for all mankind.

Man must know, realise and understand that the Qur’an is for human welfare.

Let us elucidate this with the help of a parable *. 

This is the Book – in it is Guidance

The first five verses of the second chapter (Sura al Baqarah) in the Qur’an read as follows:

“In the name of Allah, the most Compassionate, the most Merciful

1. Alif. Lam. Mim.

2. This is the Book; in it is guidance sure, without doubt, to those who fear Allah;

3. Who believe in the Unseen, are steadfast in prayer, and spend out of what We have provided for them;

4. And who believe in the Revelation sent to thee, and sent before thy time, and (in their hearts) have the assurance of the Hereafter.

5. They are on (true) guidance, from their Lord, and it is these who will prosper.”

The Names and Characteristics of the Qur’aan

To assist you in knowing the true worth of the Qur’an, you should know that Allah has named the Qur’an with many names and amongst them are:

• Al-Qur’an (the Recital),

• Al-Furqaan (the Criterion between Truth and falsehood),

• at-Tanzeel (the Revelation),

• Al-Kitaab (the Book).
