Most Suitable, Most Precise, Most Upright….Subhanallaah!

Qur’an uses rich words that are mind-boggling and overwhelming. Those that create a strong and vivid impression in the minds of the readers. Qur’anic vocabulary is expressively impressive and impressively expressive.

However, the purpose of the Qur’an is not to weave rich tapestry leading to intellectual exercises and literary debates on the part of the readers but the purpose is to convey the truth in the most miraculous a manner. So the Qur’an, which is a miracle in human language, serves to guide mankind in all spheres of life.

With clinical precision, Allah says about His inimitable Book in the following words:

Indeed, this Qur’an guides to that which is most suitable and gives good tidings to the believers who do righteous deeds that they will have a great reward.” (Surah al Isra 17: 9)  (You may listen to this beautiful recitation)

Allah says that Al Qur’an guides to that which is aqwam.

The key word in this ayah aqwam comes from the Arabic root ق و م

أقوم aqwam means: 1) more/most upright 2) more/most precise. 3) straighter 4) more correct 5) sounder 6) more adequate 7) more appropriate 8) most suitable 9) most just and right

إستقام istiqaama, which means ‘to go straight, to become upright, to follow the correct path’, and مستقيم mustaqeem, which means ‘straight, upright and righteous’, are also derived from the same root as أقوم aqwam.

Just think over: When can a guidance be deemed most suitable?

Only when it is true, perfect, right, complete, appropriate, coherent, sound, sensible, unambiguous, precise, natural, relevant to all times, suitable to human nature, free of contradictions and beyond all doubt. Qur’an is such an amazing book. Guidance par excellence!

Qur’an’s guidance works only when the mind is open to accept the reality and it guides only when the heart is willing to receive it guidance.

And given the Qur’an’s rich guidance, only the miserable ones will be deprived of its blessings. May Allah guide us to the Straight Path.

Sal-lal-laahu ‘Ala Muhammad, Sal-lal-laahu ‘Alaihi wa Sallam.
