Mercy, Health and a Food for Thought

بسم الله والصلاة والسلام على رسول الله

Did you know that the Absence of health is the absence of your Lord’s mercy?

Let’s take a minute or so to ponder over this beautiful ayah:

“Whatever Allah grants to people of mercy – none can withhold it; and whatever He withholds – none can release it thereafter. And He is the Exalted in Might, the Wise.” (Surah Faatir, Ayah 2)    Audio Recitation

Allah is not only most Merciful, He is the Owner of Mercy, the Possessor of Mercy.

Keeping His creation hale and healthy is an aspect of our Lord’s Mercy. For, Allah is the One Who gives Health and He is the One Who Takes Away your health. And none but He alone is the Bestower of Health.

As this ayah talks about Mercy and withholding of Mercy, it would have been fine if it had concluded with the Attributive Names, Ar-Rahmaan and Ar-Raheem. But it is not so.

Why do you think that the verse is ending with Al Azeez and Al Hakeem, and not with Ar-Rahmaan and Ar-Raheem?

And when the World is in the grip of this Covid-19 issue, isn’t this ayah so relevant to the context today?

Or you thought that Qur’an is an out-dated book!!

Baarakallaahu Feekum.
