Qur’an is Bayaan and Tibyaan as well!

بسم الله والصلاة والسلام على رسول الله

Qur’an calls itself Bayaan. Qur’an calls itself Tibyaan.

What is their meaning and what is the difference?

Read on to find an amazing elucidation by the world renowned Arabic scholar, Dr. V. Abdur Rahim.

In reply to my question, the respected scholar said:

“Assalam alaykum.

Bayaan means clarity.

Allah swt says هذا بيان للناس i.e. this is a clear message for the people.

Tibyaan on the other hand means clarification i.e. it makes other things clear.

Allah swt says: ونزلنا عليك الكتاب تبيانا لكل شيء i.e. We have revealed to you the book as a clarification for every issue.

So the Qur’an is clarity by itself and a means of clarification.

Hope this is clear.
Abdur Rahim.”

May Allah reward the esteemed author and give him health and strength to carry on his insatiable work in the field of Islamic and Arabic literature.
