An effort in f a c i l i t a t i o n

From Gallery To Football Court!

The latest French magazine issue must be taken as an opportunity to learn and proceed with new energy. We need to move from being reactive to being proactive adopting positive approach for the cause of Islam.

Islam being the way of life produced, directed, chosen, approved, inspired and powered by Allah, none in the world has any potency to extinguish His Light. None!

The whole humanity with all resources put together cannot simply wipe out the religion of Islam. One can mock at the Prophet. One can slander Muslims and defame their religion. One can draw cartoons and prove his bankruptcy of civilized behavior. Stupid absurdities cannot harm even a hair of the Prophet, peace be upon him.

Barking dogs seldom bite. But then the need of the hour is to save the fabric of humanity from the possible bites left by some ferocious beasts.

The bites an innocent person gets are nothing but the misunderstandings about Islam. People are misinformed about Islam and Prophet Muhammad. The media by and large today shows Islam in bad light and here is where we need to rise up and respond to the challenge of the media’s smear campaign against Islam.

This aayah makes da’wah – calling people to Islam – an obligatory duty upon the Muslim community.

Listen to the Audio Recitation of this ayah

“And strive for Allah with the striving due to Him. He has chosen you and has not placed upon you in the religion any difficulty. [It is] the religion of your father, Abraham. Allah named you “Muslims” before [in former scriptures] and in this [revelation] that the Messenger may be a witness over you and you may be witnesses over the people. So establish prayer and give zakah and hold fast to Allah. He is your protector; and excellent is the protector, and excellent is the helper”. (Surah al Hajj 22: 78)

“And thus we have made you a just community that you will be witnesses over the people and the Messenger will be a witness over you”. (Surah al Baqarah 2: 143)

It is really a matter of concern that we Muslims have forgotten our responsibility of being shuhadaa-alan-naas witnesses over mankind which clearly mean inviting people to Islam and submit to the will of Allah.

The attitude of Muslims with regard to da’wah and Jihad is like those spectators sitting in the gallery and watching a football match.

What do you do sitting in the gallery? React to the happenings in the field!

Some clap. Some whistle. Some shout. Some dance. Some fight. Some yell. Some become happy because their team scored a goal. Some become sad because their team is at the receiving end. Some don’t understand what actually is happening in the field. They simply join the crowd and go with flow.

Our condition is also like this. We react to the happenings in the world rather being in the field and take challenges into our stride.

Dear brothers and sisters, we need to plunge into the field. We need to involve ourselves practically in enjoining good and forbidding evil. We need to move from being a spectator at the gallery to the center of the da’wah court.

Teamwork works! Coordination and cooperation among the members of the team are essential to success.

If any member of a team tries to put down other member then the overall team will have to bear the brunt. If Muslims fight among themselves and hurl abuses at each other in the name of nationality or madhab or ego then the team Ummah will fail. This exactly is happening to Muslims today.

Let us realize our importance. Let us realize our duties and responsibilities.

We are answerable to Allah for the amanah He has entrusted us with. The amanah of Islam. The amanah of Qur’an. The amanah of authentic ahadeeth and sunnah.

Let us do our best to convey the teachings of Islam to the distressed humanity.

We have great responsibility to dispel misconceptions about Islam in the contemporary world.

The need of the hour is to develop personal relationships with non-Muslims and gift pamphlets and books on Islam and Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him. The effort has to be taken in all major languages of the world, especially European languages.

Who is Muhammad has become the talk of the town. It is high time that the ignorant and the ill-informed are made aware of his biography. Much of the problem will be solved if misunderstandings are removed.

Let us stop being silent spectators and adopt the role of a responsible team member by being in the field seeking Allah’s pleasure.

Guidance is in the Hands of Allah. Let us do our work and He will do His work, Inshaaallah.

Sal-lal-laahu ‘Ala Muhammad, Sal-lal-laahu ‘Alaihi wa Sallam.

  1. Absolutely agree with what you have written. I think we should set an example to the world by leading an ideal life and the duty lies on each one of us to clear the misconceptions formed about our deen.
