Dr. V. Abdur Rahim: His blog and the Qur’anic Arabic Course

Dear sisters and brothers, Assalamu Alaikum

Anyone who doesn’t know about Dr. V. Abdur Rahim in fact doesn’t know anything about the nuts and bolts of Arabic language learning! This is no exaggeration!

The learners of Arabic, past and present, are well acquainted with the method adopted by this pioneering shaykh in teaching-learning Arabic language. My strong feeling is that anyone who adopts learning methods other than the method shown by Dr. V Abdur Rahim is actually taking a path that is only too long, downrightly dull, outrightly boring and that which is full of tears!

The world famous books by the celebrity-scholar-genuis entitled ‘Madinah Arabic Readers’ are the best Arabic Language Learning Books available on earth today! (You can find these books in this blog under ‘Arabic Learning Resources’ section)

The purpose, however, of this post is to inform the readers of the blog of this great Shaykh, and also to motivate those who already know the language to undertake the Qur’anic Arabic Course on Surah al Hujuraat. The Shaykh’s blog is a good supplementary resource for the lovers of Arabic language.

‘Surah al-Hujuraat – With Lexical & Grammatical Notes’ is an advanced Qur’anic Arabic Course prepared for the graduates of the Madinah Arabic Course, or students who have attained proficiency in Arabic equivalent to it.

  1. Assalaamu alaikum

Jazaakallaahu khayran for your very interesting introduction to the respected Shaykh Dr V. Abdur Rahim.

    It made me smile.

I agree with you that learning Arabic is a delight when one learns from the Shaykh’s unique Arabic language books and courses – like the excellent course above : Suurah al-Hujuraat.

Allaah has blessed us non-Arabs with this rare Shaykh. Through him, we have reached a stage of being able to understand Allaah’s Words in their original form, and done so with joy and ease during the learning stage.

And now with the Shaykh’s treasured new website, we have the pleasure of sitting with our Shaykh for regular lessons.

    Al-Hamdu lillaah for His bounties.

A request to everyone: kindly remember our Shaykh in your du”aas and to pray for his long-life serving the Diin.

    • P.S Brother Muqeet:

Your link to the Shaykh’s books, courses and curriculum, is not working.

Hope you can look into that.

Visitors can go directly to the Shaykh’s site in the meantime for this valuable guide – in the section:

      Library & Book Fair.

    • wa alaikumus salam. I dont know why you mentioned your name as Quran? It is better to mention one’s name! Anyway, I changed it to ‘A Qur’an Reader’! Let us not become so anonymous that you use the word Quran instead of your own name!!!
It isn’t Islamic in any way!

  3. Assalaamu alaikum Brother Muqeet,

I am glad to read the encouragement you are giving here about how easy the Qur’aan is. This includes the language of the Glorious Qur’aan too.

You quote Allaah’s statement in suurah al-Qamar :

ولقد يسرنا القرآن للذكر فهل من مدّكر

I would like to add that this statement is most emphatic in stating that the Qur’aan and its language – is easy.

If we look at the grammar of this aayah we will see an omitted oath which is proven by the jawaabu l-qasam:

    The laam is:

    لام جوابِ القسمٍ

It signals the omitted oath whose taqdiir is (something like):

وعزتي وجلالي لقد يسرنا القرآن للذكر.

I have learnt to understand this aayah from our respected Shaykh Dr. Abdur Rahim’s books and especially from his Qur’aanic course named:

المسعف في لغة وإعراب سورة يوسفَ

(Lexical and grammatical exposition of suurah Yuusuf)

So the aayah is a most emphatic assurance in the Qur’aan (and in other aayaat ) that it is easy.

    • Wa alaikumus salam.
Jazakallah Khayr for a very informative explanation.
Shall I use this as a separate post?
Can I know your name, please?
Is there any hijab for revealing the name!
