Ihsaan: Beyond Excellence

Dear brothers and sisters in Islam, Assalamu Alaikum.

The word I am going to discuss today is ‘Ihsaan’ احسان

The word “excellence” comes from “excel” which means “to be exceptionally good at something”.   Excellence also means “the quality of being extremely good or outstanding”.  It is “the state of excelling; surpassing merit or quality” and “the activity etc. in which a person excels” (Oxford Advanced Learners Dictionary and the New Oxford Dictionary of Modern English). ظلم – The greatest wrong!

Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem

Insha’Allah I plan to discuss on some selected words from the Glorious Qur’an, on a fortnightly basis. Today’s word is  ظلم

وَإِذْ قَالَ لُقْمَانُ لابْنِهِ وَهُوَ يَعِظُهُ يَا بُنَيَّ لا تُشْرِكْ بِاللَّهِ إِنَّ الشِّرْكَ لَظُلْمٌ عَظِيمٌ

“And (remember) when Luqmân said to his son when He was advising him: “O My son! join not in Worship others with Allâh. Verily! joining others in Worship with Allâh is a great Zûlm (wrong) indeed.” (Surah Luqman: 31: 13)
