Surahs beginning with Alhamdulillaah

Do you know how many Suwar (pl. for Surah) in the Qur’an begin with Alhamdu-lil-laah?

And what are their names?

I was reading a book on Tafseer and just thought of sharing this simple info.

There are five suwar (surahs/chapters) in the Qur’an that begin with Alhamdu-lil-laah. They are:

1. Surah al Fatihah (Chapter 1)

2. Surah al An’aam (Chapter 6)

3. Surah al Kahf (Chapter 18)

4. Surah Saba (Chapter 34)

5. Surah Faathir (Chapter 35)

And by the way, try to find out how many Suwar in the Qur’an end with Alhamdu-lil-laahi Rabbil ‘Aalameen. This is not a home work though :)

You can have some beneficial knowledge on the Linguistic Miracle of Alhamdu-lil-laah by Br. Nouman Ali Khan from this link, Inshaa’Allah.

Jazakallaahu Khayra.

Sal-lal-laahu ‘Ala Muhammad, Sal-lal-laahu ‘Alaihi wa Sallam.

  1. Wow. Subhanallah. Think I’m going to have to do some research on this… The tafseer is incredible. I am currently looking up on Surah Ad-Duha and I am overwhelmed with hidden Mercy packed within that Surah.

  4. Even though the information is simple, it is great.
We are so busy and mechanical in our recitations that we never take time to think on these lines.
Thank you very much for your effort. Jazakallah Khair.
